A little about me

What I am up to at the moment

I’m currently working as contract researcher / assistant professor at the Institute of Plant Sciences at the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa, Italy. This is a specialist university for advanced studies. My work is within the Group of Agroecology and my role includes research activities, project coordination, and teaching as well.

I also am developing my own business providing expertise in the field of agroecological transition, sustainable and climate resilient farming, as well as in project monitoring and supporting project development and management.

During the previous 8 years, I have worked at the Centre for Agroecology, Water and Resilience (CAWR) within the Research Institute for Sustainability, Equity and Resilience (ISER) at Coventry University, in the United Kingdom. I worked there as an assistant professor in agroecological livestock systems until December 2022.

I’ve also been a contributing author for the Working Group II Contribution to the UN IPCC Sixth Assessment Report, 2022; providing expertise in agroecology, agroforestry, and feasibility and risk assessment of adaptation strategies, with a focus on European contexts (Chapter 13).

What I am interested in

My research interests include transdisciplinary studies; sustainability and sustainable transition; European legislation; impact of climate change; agro-zootechnical systems on agroecological bases; agroforestry; involvement of producers in the generation and dissemination of knowledge.

My areas of expertise include:

  • Agroecology; sustainable transition, including legislative aspects; multifunctional landscapes; natural resource management; participatory research methodologies.
  • Creation and coordination of research projects at international level.
  • Teaching and tutoring.
