I feel less and less proud of having an Italian passport…
read the New York Times article
Or maybe I should stop reading the news early in the morning?!

(from my MySpace page)
I opened this MySpace account back in 2005 I think, and I haven’t started using it until 3 years later. I guess this shows my love to social networking.
I also have a Facebook account now and more than once I’ve been tempted to close either MySpace or Facebook, but I can’t choose. They sure are easy and fast ways to show photos to your friends, but-uh…
1- I only upload low definition photos to Facebook because of the Distribution Rights issue. Some photos I have printed in the past are obviously not viewable on FB, nor on MySpace. Ya never know…
2- Blog on FB sucks, while it’s doable on MySpace. Though I also have a wordpress blog I’ve been posting on for a while, on my real website. So… Which one do I keep?
3- Most of my friends are either on MySpace or on Facebook (or on both!) and now we don’t write emails anymore, we don’t have much time left to chat on the messengers either, so we resign to send short messages here or on FB.
All in all, social networks don’t really help friends keep in touch. They gradually stop talking. You end up clicking on tv shows you like, become a fan of this or that page, artist, film etc… and your friends get to know you like The Simpsons and Fawlty Towers. But they will eventually just send you some short hello note from time to time. We are all so busy we can’t talk to our friends anymore.
But are we busy with our 3D lives or are we busy with clicking on this or that MySpace / Facebook feature?
Don’t worry guys & gals
I’m not gonna shut down my accounts. I’m just gonna try and finish building my real website and then link to that. I had a nice idea in mind for my website, but it requires quite some coding and programming. Then I got eye surgery keeping me away from the computer, so… Will be back to programming pretty soon.
Yeah… I knew you couldn’t wait
These are two websites I visit to look for free audiobooks.
iTunes has quite some audiobooks for sale at reasonably fair prices and also some free podcasts. I am finding audiobooks interesting, One can also listen to plays. Pretty cool huh?
I discovered audiobooks a few months ago, when I was looking for something on iTunes. And I got hooked. Especially after eye surgery 2 weeks ago, even though I kept drawing and writing. Can’t help it!
Audiobook conversion tutorial (iTunes):
After you downloaded a .mp3 audiobook,
1- Add it to the iTunes library
2- Right-click on the file and select ‘Convert to AAC’
3- Go to the iTunes folder on your hard-disk and look for the newly converted file, it should be a .m4a file now.
4- On your Folder Options panel, uncheck ‘Hide extensions for known file types’.
5- Click on the .m4a file and rename the extension .m4b
This is iTunes audiobook format and will allow you to listen to the file, stop it, turn off iTunes/iPod and listen again later from where you left. This is not possible with .mp3 files, for instance.
Hope it helps!
I have no idea how’s the Yankees season going, to be honest. I haven’t followed in quite a while. But yesterday I went to the storage room to look for something and instead, I found my baseball/softball stuff. A few balls, 2 bats, my glove. One ball signed by Elio e Faso (Elio e Le Storie Tese) [ndr. this is a long story, will take another post someday] and one ball with “New York Yankess” printed on. This one is 26 years old. My brother was a few months old and my father was sent to NY and then Houston for work. He brought us back a tennis-player Snoopy he got at Fao Schwartz. If you have never heard of it, well I think it’s the gigantic toys store you see in the movie ‘Home Alone’. And he also bought that baseball ball with a NY Yankees print. The print is almost faded. Not being a priceless item, I guess I can use some sharpie on it to revive the print.
Well… All this made me think of my first short trip to NYC. I spent the Christmas / New Year’s Eve Holidays there, in 2003/2004 and it was grand! I absolutely loved the city. And I miss it! The only other city where I had a similar feeling was London, though it’s not quite the same. I like both cities and the vibes they send. There’s always something to do, you never get bored. But NYC has that something special that I haven’t found in any other city I visited or lived in. This year is pretty busy, but I have to think of some short trip next year, mmm. Definitely. Or should I say Defi-f***ing-nitely? Naaah, it doesn’t sound too well…
Sorry, this post is more of an inside-jokes galore, haha. Too many references, will do better next time. I promise
